The Wichita Mid-Continent Airport “Green Team” will be hosting an Earth Day fair on Friday at the Airport Terminal Building. Seminars and workshops led by industry representatives will begin at 8:10 a.m. and will cover a variety of topics, including:
- Developing a Recycling Program;
- Green Chemicals - Production and the Green Certification Process;
- Microfiber and its Development;
- And Environmental furniture manufacturing processes
Booths will open at 8 a.m. with various displays of organic and environmentally friendly items. Some of these items are new to the region and have never been displayed at any event in the state.
Area schools are participating in a recycling poster contest for the airport. The winning poster will become the focal point in all areas where recycle bins are placed throughout the terminal and concourses. The class with the winning design will receive a special behind-the-scenes tour of Mid-Continent Airport.
The Green Team will also conduct its second annual “Recycle your Clothes” day. In addition to clothing, cell phones will be collected. Items may be dropped off at the parking area across from the Airport Public Safety Building, located at 2193 Air Cargo Road. The clothing that is collected will be donated to shelters and crisis centers in the Metro Wichita area.
