“O.K. Kids Day” Saturday, May 21st

Free activities for children ages 5 to 12

The annual “O.K. Kids Day” event is scheduled from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday at Watson Park, 3022 S. McLean Boulevard. Children 5 to 12 years old can receive free instruction regarding fishing and water safety as well as play miniature golf, volleyball, moon walk, kayaks, train and pony rides during “O.K. Kids Day.”

Fishing poles and bait will be provided to use for the fishing clinics, so those interested should arrive early to register. Home Depot volunteers will be available to help youth assemble kits. A limited number of free T-shirts, hot dogs, and popcorn are also available.

Children can participate in a prize drawing at 11:45am and starting at noon, Watson Park will have train rides, pony rides, miniature golf, pedal boats and concessions for small fees.

O.K. Kids Day is operated by the Kansas Wildscape Foundation. Capitol Federal Savings, Kansas Recreation & Park Association and the City of Wichita Park and Recreation Department are financial supporters of the program. Other contributors include Home Depot, Farmland Foods Inc., Kansas Wildlife & Parks, Kansas T’s, Ace Hardware, Wal-Mart, Spangles, Tom Sawyer Bicycle Shop Inc., Barnes and Noble, Dr. Joe Steven, Sedgwick County Zoo, Tanganyika Wildlife Park, Arkansas River Coalition, and Checkers Foods.
