Traffic restrictions form Rock Road to Webb start in June
The City of Wichita will reconstruct Central from Rock Road to Webb Road this summer. A public information meeting about the project is scheduled for 6 p.m. on Thursday at Kapaun Mt. Carmel High School, 8506 E. Central Avenue.
The $1 million project will provide two through lanes in each direction on Central, with a center-left turn lane and a right-turn lane for westbound traffic entering the Kapaun High School parking lot. A new water line will be included, and the pedestrian crosswalk between Tara and Longford will be upgraded.
The project is slated to begin June 6, with a projected completion date for paving work by August 17.
Construction will require limiting traffic on Central to one lane in each direction during most of the project. Tara, Longford and West Parkway south of Central will be closed to through traffic, one at a time.
Restoration of the right-of-way will be completed by October.
