Special discount, reserved parking offered to MTW patrons

For the first time ever, Music Theatre of Wichita (MTW) and the Wichita River Festival are teaming up to infuse downtown with activity as they both celebrate their 40th anniversaries. MTW is presenting “Meredith Willson's THE MUSIC MAN” June 8-12 in the Century II Concert Hall. Anyone who presents their River Festival button in person at the Concert Hall Box Office, 225 W. Douglas, will receive $5 off any regular-priced ticket. Tickets range from $20-$57. As an added benefit, there will be reserved parking around Century II for MTW ticketholders.

“The combined energies of Music Theatre and River Festival happening simultaneously should help create an amazing environment downtown,” said Wayne Bryan, MTW’s producing artistic director. “We specifically chose ‘THE MUSIC MAN’ – a musical about a river city – because it fit in so well with the River Festival atmosphere. We invite our patrons to take full advantage of their reserved parking by arriving early and exploring nearby River Festival attractions.”

With MTW performances and River Festival events going on at the same time, there will be a significant increase in traffic downtown as well as street closures. For the easiest access to Century II, MTW patrons should drive south on Main Street, still allowing extra time to reach their destination. Reserved parking will be available on performance days in these areas:

  • Main Century II metered parking lot (east of Expo Hall)
  • Lot at the corner of Water and Waterman (across from the Hyatt)
  • Metered lot next to Century II Drive (west of the intersection of Main/William)
  • Inside Expo Hall (accessible through Century II main parking lot)

All lots will be staffed by security with access only granted to drivers who show their MTW tickets and/or “THE MUSIC MAN” parking passes. Short-term parking in front of the Concert Hall Box office will remain open to the general public for dropoffs/pickups or to purchase MTW tickets.

Additional information about parking and ‘The Music Man’ production is available on MTW’s Web site, www.MTWichita.org or by calling (316) 265-3253.
