A fire at 246 N. Emporia on Thursday night was intentionally set, fire officials said during a Public Safety News Briefing on Thursday. Officials from the Wichita Fire Department, the Kansas State Fire Marshal’s Office and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms and Explosives are following up on the fire, which produced thick smoke seen throughout the area of 2nd and Emporia in Wichita’s downtown area around 10:15 PM.
No suspects have been identified. No injuries were reported to firefighters or occupants. The building was not occupied at the time of the fire. Wichita Fire Fighters responded to the report of a commercial building fire on June 22nd. The fire was brought under control quickly and was confined to the building of origin.
