Funding Capacity topic of third lecture this Saturday

The City of Wichita will host a lecture on “Funding Capacity” from 11 a.m.-noon on Saturday, June 25 in Room 101AB inside Century II, 225 W. Douglas. Funding capacity is an organization’s overall ability to generate enough money to support its operations. This meeting will give members and leaders of arts organizations tools that will help them increase their funding capacity by capitalizing on new arts fundraising approaches and revenue opportunities that have been successful in many cities across the country. This is the third of six presentations included in the City’s “Arts & Culture Industry Lecture Series.” It is free and open to the public.

John D’Angelo, manager, City of Wichita’s Arts & Cultural Services, will lead discussion on these topics:

  • Revenues: Maximizing current sources of revenues/funding
  • Innovation: Creating new business models and approaches to arts programming
  • Reach: Growing audiences, donor bases, board membership
  • Collaboration: Creating community partnerships that are financially beneficial

The purpose of the Arts & Culture Industry Lecture Series is to bring the community together to discuss how local arts organizations and artists can successfully adapt to the changing arts environment. Lectures will continue throughout the summer and fall with remaining topics on: Philanthropic Trends, Building New Leadership and New Arts and Cultural Business Models.
