Library’s Computer, Internet Users Asked for Opinions on Service

The Wichita Public Library is conducting an online survey through Oct. 16, 2011, to find out how customers use the Library’s computers and Internet connection and how this service has made a difference in their lives. This information will help the Library improve its technology services and communicate the value of providing free access to computers and the Internet within the community. The IMPACT Survey is anonymous, available in English and Spanish, and takes 10-15 minutes to complete.

The survey is an extension of the U.S. IMPACT Study. Conducted in 2009, the U.S. IMPACT Study was the first large-scale investigation of the ways library patrons use computers and the Internet at public libraries, why they use it, and how it affects their lives.

Customers may take the survey from the Library’s computers, the Library’s free wireless internet, or from the Library web site at http://www.wichita.lib.ks.us through Sunday, Oct. 16, 2011.

The IMPACT Survey is coordinated by the University of Washington with generous support from the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation. For more information about the IMPACT Survey, inquire at the library information desk or visit http://impactsurvey.org.
