An Honor Flight carrying World War II veterans who departed from Wichita Mid-Continent Airport on Tuesday will return this evening at 6:30 p.m. The flight was originally scheduled to arrive about an hour later.
The public and media are encouraged to welcome home the veterans, who travelled to Washington, DC where they visited the World War II Memorial and other historical sites.
An second Honor Flight will depart Wichita Mid-Continent at 7 a.m. on Thursday and return at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Mid-Continent Airport’s Safety Division will honor the returning flight with a water cannon salute.
The cost to send a World War II veteran on a HONOR FLIGHT is $650.00. Expenses are paid by public donations.
