Wichita Police Highlight Common Mistakes
Wichita Police officers and detectives will be out at 11 a.m. Tuesday in the parking lot of Towne East Mall to identify common mistakes shoppers make during the holiday season. They will be walking around and identifying vehicles that have items inside which thieves might want to steal. The goal is to educate shoppers so they don’t become a victim. Media should meet Lt. Mike Hennessy on the west side of the mall by Sears.
This is the fifth year the Department has proactively addressed vehicle larcenies around the holidays. Hennessy says with some simple precautions, such as making sure valuables are out of sight and vehicles are locked, shoppers can reduce their chances of being targeted by thieves.
