Operation Impact Results

The Wichita Police Department announced the results for Operation Impact which was conducted from 7 a.m. last Wednesday morning through midnight Thanksgiving along Rock Road, throughout Sedgwick County.

Officers issued 177 citations which accounted for 196 violations (more than one violation can be put on a citation). There were 128 violations for speeding--top speed recorded was 62 mph in a 40 mph. Nine violations were issued for running a red light.

Seventeen violations were issued for making an improper turn. Twenty three seatbelt violations were issued. For the holiday period from last Wednesday at 6 p.m. to yesterday at 6 p.m. there were a total of 26 DUI arrests in Wichita.

“Many of the citizens stopped during the event said they had heard about it on the news,” Sgt. Jim Krok said. He indicated the drivers were generally appreciative of the coordinated efforts on Wednesday.

The Wichita Police Department, Sedgwick County Sheriff’s Department, Derby Police Department, Mulvane Police Department and the Kansas Highway Patrol all participated.
