Approximately 4,000 residents attended the City of Wichita’s “A Night with Santa” holiday event on Tuesday evening at the Century II Performing Arts & Convention Center, 225 W. Douglas.
The indoor-outdoor free event was hosted by Wichita Mayor Carl Brewer and Wichita City Council members. The festivities included a tree-lighting on Kennedy Plaza, a reading of “The Night before Christmas,” fireworks and Santa Claus arriving on a fire truck. Fireworks were sponsored by the Wichita Federal Credit Union and Go Wichita.
The indoor event, hosted by the Wichita Park and Recreation Department, took place in Exhibition Hall. The fun included games and inflatables, letters to Santa & photos with Santa. Live Christmas trees and children’s bicycles were awarded.
The event also included donations of personal items and clothing benefiting the Wichita Children’s Home.
