WPD Connects to Community

The Wichita Police Department unveiled the new smart phone app today. My Police Department is a smart phone app that can be downloaded to smartphones from either the Apple App Store or the Android Marketplace.

"The police department has been very proactive in connecting with the community via social media networks," said Officer Jerod Metcalf. “The Department continues to develop ways to interact with the public, the My Police Department application is the latest avenue of communication.”

The Wichita Police Department uses the application to receive tips anonymously, find a substation, ask questions, look up department contacts and keep up with the latest WPD social media updates. The application is developed by Wired Blue, one of the few police specific smart phone applications. Users of this application may connect with departments around the country that use this application.

The application is completely free to users and can be downloaded to from the Wichita Police Department’s Facebook page. It can also be downloaded from app stores, search for “My Police Department”.
