Limited Services Available During Transition
Customers will benefit from more efficient and up-to-date information through the Office of Central Inspection’s (OCI) new web based project tracking and management system. The new system will be in place on Monday. In order to make the transition, beginning at 5 p.m. on Thursday customers will be unable to use OCI’s TELUS voice response system or its E-Permits web application to request inspections or permits during the outage. OCI offices will remain open but limited services and information will be available during the system outage that is expected to last through the weekend. In person permitting will be available but no licenses will be issued during the outage.
“Upgrading the Office of Central Inspection’s project tracking and management system will enhance efficiencies in processing building permits, contractor licenses, inspection scheduling and reporting and project tracking for customers,” said Rick Stubbs, Co-Assistant Director of OCI. “The upgrade will also allow people to go online and check the status of their project progression through the department on a ‘real time’ basis.”
The Office of Central Inspection assists approximately 600 customers each day. Last year it issued more than 8,100 building permits within the community.
