The Wichita Police Department’s Accessible Parking Enforcement Program is accepting applications for volunteers interested in assisting the police enforce the handicapped parking regulations. Applications will be accepted, starting today until 8:00 am March 13th, either in person or by mail at 455 N. Main 5th Floor Warrant office.
“Volunteers who work with us will take pictures of violations, complete a one page form documenting the violation and turn that in to the police,” said Lt. Doug Nolte. They are proactive in assisting our department cite violators who choose to park in the designated parking for those in need, Nolte said.
Interested volunteers must be willing to meet the minimum requirements of the program, including being at least 21 years of age and have a valid Kansas Driver’s License.
There are a limited number of volunteers who will be accepted. The volunteers will be trained by police if they are selected for the program. Questions can be directed to DNolte@wichita.gov or 316-268-4231.
