Dumpsters Being Placed for Household Debris

Contact: Amanda Matthews or Kristi Zukovich |

For citizens who were impacted by the April 14 tornado, 15 large waste dumpsters are being placed today in the Oaklawn and Pinaire Mobile Home Park areas. Household debris should be placed in these dumpsters and will be emptied on a continual basis.

Household debris should not include tree debris or household hazardous waste. Citizens should put any tree limb debris at the curbs for pick up.

In addition, Sedgwick County Public Works Office is sending out a truck today to pick up household hazardous waste. The Sedgwick County Public Works truck will be clearly identified and will drive through the Oaklawn, Pinaire Mobile Home Park, and 71st St. South area neighborhoods between the hours of 10 a.m. - 5 p.m. today. Sedgwick County Household Hazardous Waste Facility is collecting any household hazardous waste from the hours of 9 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. today through Friday, and Saturday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Volunteers are being scheduled through United Way to help citizens with debris removal at these locations. Volunteers wanting more information should call 2-1-1.
