The City of Wichita now offers on-line preregistration for food-handler classes, which provide the required food-handler identification for people working or volunteering in area food service establishments.
Eleven classes are held each month in the auditorium at the City of Wichita Office of Environmental Health, 1900 East 9th Street. The class is required by City of Wichita Ordinance 7.20. The class is intended to teach safe food handling practices in order to protect the public and prevent food borne illness. The class and card – sponsored by the City of Wichita - are currently free.
ServSafe food handler classes are available at http://www.servsafe.com/. A City of Wichita food-handler card must still be obtained by bringing your ServSafe certificate and photo identification to the Office of Environmental Health.
If you have questions, please contact the Office of Environmental Health at (316) 268-8351. To access the City of Wichita on-line food handler preregistration, go to City of Wichita Online Food Handler Preregistration Form.
