Speed Limits Change on East Kellogg

5/3/2012
Contact: Ben Nelson, Department of Public Works & Utilities |

The City of Wichita has changed the westbound lanes from 45 MPH to 55 MPH in the section of Kellogg between Webb and Greenwich. Two existing speed limit signs were switched out this morning. The eastbound segment will remain at 45 MPH, while eastbound lanes from Greenwich to Zelta will change from 55MPH to 45 MPH.

Public Works staff will seek Wichita City Council approval on May 15 to revise the ordinance to match the speed limits. In the meantime, the City’s Traffic Engineer has approved a temporary speed limit change that has made the speed limits in the affected area 55 MPH westbound and 45 MPH eastbound.

Traffic data were analyzed to determine appropriate speeds for that section of Kellogg. The corresponding maps (attached) illustrate the previous speed limits and signage compared to the new speed limits and traffic signs.
