O.K. Kids Day Coming Saturday

Free activities for children ages 5 to 12

The annual O.K. Kids Day event is scheduled from 9 a.m. to noon on Saturday at Watson Park, 3022 S. McLean Boulevard. Youth 5 to 12 years old can receive free instruction regarding fishing and water safety as well as participate in many other activities including miniature golf, volleyball, moon walking and kayaking.

Fishing poles and bait will be provided for the fishing clinics, so those interested should arrive early to register. Home Depot volunteers will be available to help youth assemble kits. A limited number of free T-shirts, hot dogs, and popcorn are also available.

At 11:45 a.m., youth can participate in a prize drawing and at noon, youth can participate in train and rides, miniature golf, pedal boats and enjoy concessions for small fees.

Also, The Great Nature Plains Center, 6232 E. 29th Street, will hold O.K. Kids Day activities from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, May 19. The theme is “Eye On Adventure.” To learn more about the nature center’s event, please visit www.gpnc.org.

O.K. Kids Day is operated by the Kansas Wildscape Foundation. Sponsors include Capitol Federal Savings, Blue Cross Blue Shield of Kansas, T&C Wildlife, Coleman Company, Kansas Recreation & Park Association and Wichita Park and Recreation. Other contributors include Home Depot, ARC, Kansas Wildlife & Parks, Kansas T’s, Ace Hardware, Small Smiles, Arkansas River Coalition, and Checkers Foods.
