The City of Wichita is holding its first Twitter town hall meeting from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. today, June 28. Residents can ask questions or comment at #wichitabudget.
Budget Director Mark Manning and other Finance Department staff will respond to questions related to the City government budget, a $500 million spending plan that provides funding for public safety, recreation, streets, water and sewer operations, economic development, local arts activities, government employees and various other services, infrastructure and projects.
The Twitter town hall follows several public budget meetings. It is designed to improve public engagement and enhance transparency in the budget process. A second Twitter town hall is scheduled for Wednesday, July 18. Residents can also comment on the budget at the City of Wichita Facebook page.
