Wichita City Council Member Lavonta Williams has been named to a 15-member nominating committee for the National League of Cities (NLC) annual Congress of Cities and Exposition in Boston, MA, Nov 18-Dec. 1.
The appointment was announced by NLC President Ted Ellis, mayor of Bluffton, IN. The committee is responsible for recommending a slate of NLC officers and board members to lead NLC in 2013. The committee is chaired by NLC Immediate Past President James Mitchell, Jr., council member, Charlotte, NC, and includes 11 elected city officials and three state municipal league executive directors.
Members of the Wichita City Council are expected to attend the annual Congress, joining conference participants from across the country in learning and networking opportunities.
