Neighborhood cleanups are hosted annually in Wichita. The City provides funding for equipment and disposal fees for approximately 80 eligible neighborhood cleanups a year. Cleanups range from large-scale projects to smaller one to two block cleanups.
The neighborhood cleanup program began more than 25 years ago and has provided a means for neighbors to dispose of bulky waste, clean vacant lots and alleys, and reduce the number of nuisance and illegal dumping cases. The program also aims to build partnerships, strengthen communities, and serve as a strong citizen engagement activity.
