Mayor Carl Brewer, Sedgwick County Chairman Jim Skelton and other City of Wichita and Sedgwick County leaders have scheduled a 9 a.m. news briefing on Wednesday in the first floor board room at City Hall, 455 N. Main.
At the news briefing, officials will announce the release of a community survey and other community engagement efforts. The survey and other community engagement efforts are related to future infrastructure and community investments that later will be detailed in a new Community Investments Plan.
Required by state law, the new plan is known as the “CommunityInvestmentsPlan … a Framework for the Future.” The plan points out that in an era of fiscal constraint, economic uncertainty and diminishing fiscal resources, the Wichita-Sedgwick County area needs a policy framework to guide future public investments and shape growth and development through 2035. The survey and plan focus on areas including:
- Public transportation;
- Water, sewer and stormwater improvements;
- Cultural, recreation and parks amenities;
- And economic development such as jobs retention and creation.
