Wichita Police will review shooting per departmental policy
District Attorney Marc Bennett today released his office’s finding on the July 10, 2012 shooting of Karen Jackson. Based on the findings, two Wichita Police Department Officers have been cleared of any criminal conduct.
Wichita Police Chief Norman Williams said his department will follow its policies and conduct its own administrative investigation of what is known as an officer-involved shooting.
“Now that the District Attorney office has concluded its investigation, the Wichita Police Department will review the shooting from the administrative side,” Williams said. “We want to follow the WPD policies and make certain our members are professional and following procedures.”
The WPD Professional Standards Bureau will review all aspects of the shooting to make certain that policies and regulations were followed. WPD officials will have no further comments until the administrative investigation is complete.
