City of Wichita Municipal Court officials today, April 1, launched Amnesty Week, a five-day period when defendants with outstanding warrants can resolve court obligations and have $50 warrant fees waived.
Defendants will not be arrested but warrant fees will only be waived if they voluntarily appear in court to resolve warrants during Amnesty Week, which ends on Friday. During this week, Municipal Court is open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Municipal Court is located on the third floor of City Hall, 455 N. Main.
“This is an excellent opportunity for a resident to address their outstanding issues with the court without fear of arrest,” said Jennifer Jones, Municipal Court Administrative Judge.
Municipal Court issues approximately 25,000 warrants each year to residents who have failed to comply with court-ordered obligations. The names of defendants with outstanding warrants are currently posted at www.wichita.gov and are listed in a publication provided at area Dillons stores.
