Public Service Excellence Winners
The 2013 Excellence in Public Service Award honorees will be surprised on Friday, April 26, at their respective workplaces. Media are encouraged to attend the annual surprise-at-work announcements at the following times and locations:
- The USD 259 honoree is scheduled to be surprised at 9:30 a.m. at Ortiz Elementary School, 3361 Arkansas. Please enter at the back of the school. Media should arrive no later than 9:25 a.m.
- The Sedgwick County honoree is scheduled to be surprised at 1:30 p.m. on the third floor in the County Manager’s Boardroom, Sedgwick County Courthouse, 525 N. Main. Media should arrive no later than 1:20 p.m.
- The City of Wichita nominee is scheduled to be surprised at 3 p.m. in the City Manager’s Office on the 13th floor of City Hall, 455 N. Main. Media should arrive no later than 2:50 p.m.
Thursday’s surprise announcements will mark the 26th year of the Excellence in Public Service Award, sponsored by the DeVore Foundation. The award recognizes public service employees who demonstrate strong work ethic, high performance and a commitment to community. Selected from thousands of eligible workers from the City of Wichita, Sedgwick County and USD 259, each honoree will receive a $2,500 check at a reception on May 9 at The Cowtown Visitors Center, 1865 W. Museum Blvd. Other sponsors include KSN-Channel 3.
An updated news release will be issued tomorrow announcing the names of the honorees after the final surprise-at-work.
