Wichita passenger rail supporters will get a jump on National Train Day during a 4 p.m. press conference Friday, May 10, at the Union Station building at 701 E. Douglas.
National Train Day is actually on Saturday, May 11, but the Friday press conference will provide an update on significant developments regarding passenger rail advocacy in this area.
A major statement of regional significance will be released at the press conference.
Vice Mayor Pete Meitzner will lead the press conference, joined by local business representatives who serve on his local Steering Committee.
The event will take place outside the north entrance of Union Station adjacent to Douglas Avenue.
The public is invited to attend.
