Free activities for children ages 5 to 12

The annual O.K. Kids Day event is scheduled from 9 a.m. to noon, Saturday, May 25, at Watson Park, 3022 S. McLean Boulevard.  Youth ages 5 to 12 years old can receive free instruction regarding fishing and water safety as well as participate in miniature golf, volleyball, moon walk, kayaks, train and pony rides during O.K. Kids Day.

Fishing poles and bait will be provided to use for the fishing clinics, so those interested should arrive early to register.  Home Depot volunteers will be available to help youth assemble kits.  A limited number of free T-shirts, hot dogs, and popcorn are also available.
Children can participate in a prize drawing at 11:45 a.m. and, starting at noon, Watson Park will have train rides, pony rides, miniature golf, pedal boats and concessions for small fees.

O.K. Kids Day is operated by the Kansas Wildscape Foundation.  Capitol Federal Savings, Blue Cross Blue Shield of Kansas, T&C Wildlife, Coleman, Kansas Recreation & Park Association, and Wichita Park and Recreation are financial supporters of the program.  Other contributors include Home Depot, ARC, Kansas Wildlife & Parks, Kansas T’s, Ace Hardware, Small Smiles, Arkansas River Coalition, Big Sky Party Rentals and Checkers Foods.

For more information about the day’s activities, please contact Brian Hill at Watson Park.
