Artist entries due by June 28
Artists have until 5 p.m. on Friday, June 28 to submit entries for the Wichita Flight Festival Poster Contest. The contest is open to anyone age 18 and older. Artists are asked to be as imaginative as possible as they create up to three poster designs that showcase Wichita as the Air Capital of the World. Entries may be dropped off or mailed to CityArts, 334 N. Mead.
A $1,000 award will be given to the winning artist, $500 to the second-place artist and $250 to the third. A complete list of requirements and entry forms are posted online at WichitaFlightFestival.com.
The poster contest was added to the festival to help build momentum for the event. In addition to being used to promote the Wichita Flight Festival to local, regional and national audiences, elements of the winning design will be used to create souvenir lapel pins that will be on sale throughout the community. The pins are not required for entry, but rather a way for people to show their support for this long-standing event that honors and celebrates Wichita’s rich aviation heritage.
The winner entry will be unveiled at noon on July 15 at the National Center for Aviation Training commons. The public is invited to attend. Lunch will be available for purchase.
