2013 Wichita Flight Festival poster unveiling on Monday
The winner of the 2013 Wichita Flight Festival poster contest will be announced at noon on Monday, July 15 in the Commons area at the National Center for Aviation Training, 4004 N. Webb Road. The media are invited. Mayor Carl Brewer is scheduled to speak. The top three finalists will be in attendance to receive their cash awards. A $1,000 award will be given to the winning artist, $500 for second and $250 for third.
The Wichita Flight Festival is scheduled for Sept. 28-29 at Jabara Airport. The poster contest was added to the festival to help build momentum for the event. Artists were asked to create a design that showcased Wichita as the “Air Capital of the World.” In addition to being used to promote the Wichita Flight Festival to local, regional and national audiences, elements of the winning design will be used to create souvenir lapel pins that will be on sale throughout the community. The pins are not required for entry, but rather a way for people to show their support for this long-standing event that honors and celebrates Wichita’s rich aviation heritage.
