Set in a department store, the musical features four women with seemingly nothing in common but a black lace bra. A sisterhood is soon created between this diverse group of women as they talk about their woeful hot flashes, forgetfulness, mood swings, wrinkles, night sweats and chocolate binges. They come to realize that menopause is no longer “The Silent Passage.”
Inspired by a hot flash and a bottle of wine, writer Jeanie Linders created the show as a celebration of women who find themselves at any stage of “The Change.” The laughter-filled 90-minute production includes parodies from classic pop songs of the ’60s and ’70s and ’80s.
An estimated 11 million women have seen “Menopause The Musical” since its 2001 opening in Orlando, Fla. The hilarious musical has entertained audiences across the country in more than 450 U.S. cities, nearly 300 international cities and a total of 15 countries.
