Commemorative lapel pins on sale tomorrow
The City of Wichita is launching the sale of commemorative lapel pins in support of the Wichita Flight Festival. Starting tomorrow, Sept. 6, the lapel pins will be available for a minimum $10 donation at these locations:
• Area QuikTrip stores
• Old Cowtown Museum, 1865 W. Museum Blvd.
• CityArts, 334 N. Mead
• The Mid-America All-Indian Center, 650 N. Seneca
• Online at
“The Wichita Flight Festival means so much to our community,” said John D’Angelo, manager of the City of Wichita’s Arts & Cultural Services Division. “We wanted to give residents the opportunity to contribute to its success. We hope everyone will wear their lapel pins with pride and keep them as souvenirs.”
The pins are not required for entry into the Wichita Flight Festival, and they do not serve as an admission ticket to the Saturday night Twilight Air Show & Concert. Rather they are a way for people to show their support for this long-standing event that honors and celebrates Wichita's status as the Air Capital of the World.
The artwork was created by local artist Lacy N. Young, the winner of this year's Wichita Flight Festival Poster Contest.
This is the first time that commemorative lapel pins have been sold in conjunction with the Wichita Flight Festival, which began in 2002.
