Favorable weather will allow street snowpack improvements
As a result of temperatures rising to near freezing, along with some sunshine, City of Wichita crews have this afternoon commenced salt/sand treatments on intersections, bridges, hills, curves and elevated roadways along snow emergency routes.
Temperatures are expected to rise to levels that allow salt treatment of snowpacked roadways to be effective in improving road conditions.
It is anticipated that the evening rush and weather conditions tomorrow will begin to address the snowpack that remains on most snow emergency routes.
This week, the City began hauling additional salt supplies from our vendor in Hutchinson, augmenting those received from that vendor under our contract.
