O.J. Watson Park to Open Spring Hours

O.J. Watson Park, located at 3022 S. McLean Blvd, will operate under spring hours – from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. – beginning Saturday.

Park rides, specifically, will be available from noon to nightfall on Saturdays and Sundays from 5 p.m. to nightfall on Monday through Friday.

O.J. Watson Park sits on a 119-acre site along the Arkansas River in south Wichita. The park includes a 40-acre lake for fishing and pedal boats and also offers a variety of recreational opportunities such as miniature golf, train rides, pony rides, volleyball, and picnicking. Picnic shelters are available to rent by contacting Brian Hill (529-9940) at Watson Park.

The Park will be host to many spring events such as The Bunny Blast & Egg Hunt for children ages two to 10 on Saturday, April 12; The first ever Midwest Catfish Classic for adults ages 14 and up on Saturday, April 26 and O.K. Kids Day on Saturday. May 10. To learn more about park events, please visit www.wichita.gov and click on park and recreation.

A master plan for the park is being developed and is scheduled for release in May. Wichita Park & Recreation supports eight recreation centers, nine swimming pools, 52 athletic fields, five golf courses, six interactive fountains, numerous adult and youth-based activities and athletics programs and 2,407 acres of rights-of-way.
