Bicyclists traveling from Tlalnepantla, Mexico to Wichita – to support the Sister Cities program – are scheduled to arrive in Mulvane between 2 and 3 p.m. on Tuesday, May 27. Next they will cycle to Wichita for a City Hall welcome between 4 and 5 p.m.
Sedgwick County Sheriff deputies are scheduled to escort them into Wichita, their final stop after covering 1,633 miles over 13 days as part of the “8th Annual Trek of the Brotherhood, Tlalnepantla-Wichita 2014."

The Tlalnepantla cyclists, who began their tour at 9 a.m. on Wednesday, May 25, will remain in Wichita through Tuesday, June 7. Their trip coincides with the annual, nine-day Wichita River Festival.
Cities International is a nonprofit citizen diplomacy network that creates and strengthens partnerships between the United States and international communities. More than 2,000 cities, states and counties are partnered in 136 countries around the world. The organization aims to build global cooperation at the municipal level, promote cultural understanding and stimulate economic development. The program originated in 1956 when President Dwight D. Eisenhower proposed a people-to-people, citizen diplomacy initiative.
