Melodrama Mike’s presenting three performances this weekend
Melodrama Mike’s Play Service will present “Money in the Bank or It’s All Your Vault” June 13-15 in Cowtown’s Empire House Theater. Shows are scheduled for 8 p.m. on Friday and Saturday. A special Father’s Day production will start at 2 p.m. on Sunday. The family-friendly shows are part of Cowtown’s “Empire House Live!” 2014 performance series. “Money in the Bank or It’s All Your Vault” includes an over-the-top exaggerated plot, hero, villains and damsel in distress that melodrama audiences have come to love and expect. It was written by veteran actor Mike Roark, who will also direct the production. Empire House Theater is a familiar setting for Roark, who was a regular melodrama performer at Cowtown in the 1980s and 1990s. He is also well known to Wichita audiences for writing, directing and starring in productions at Mosley Street Melodrama. Many of Roark’s melodramas which have been produced professionally throughout North America and around the world.
Melodrama is one of many diverse entertainment options included in The Empire House Live! performance series. Empire House Theater’s unique setting and intimate seating for 150 people gives Wichitans an up-close-and-personal experience with performers.
