In response to the winter storm that affected Wichita over the weekend, City of Wichita crews have deployed all 50 trucks to conduct street clearing efforts. These 50 trucks ran from midnight to 8 a.m. this morning.
Primary efforts focused on the frequently traveled arterials. After these routes were deemed to be mostly clear, City crews began working on school routes and other priority routes. Some frozen snow pack is still present on these routes.
City crews will continue to run all 50 trucks through 4p.m. today. With the aid of the sunlight, these routes should be clear by end of the day.
As the sun sets, there is potential for the formation of ice patches. Therefore, the City is dispatching 5 “ice patrol” trucks to identify and treat these areas.
Motorists should continue to drive with caution and follow the winter storm driving tips found at www.wichita.gov.
