Program includes exhibit opening, Artist Talk by local psychologist

CityArts will host the opening of two art exhibitions and an Artist Talk on Final Friday, Jan. 30. CityArts will be open from 5-9 p.m., joining other Final Friday venues downtown to celebrate the work of local and regional artists. The public is invited to attend the free activities. CityArts is located at 334 N. Mead in Old Town Square.

Main Gallery: “Creative Perspective,” surrealist works by Dr. Charles Gaynor
Artist Talk: 7:30 p.m. in the CityArts Main Gallery

Gaynor is a local psychologist whose desire to be creative led him to explore photography and digital graphics decades ago. Gaynor enjoys experimenting with and exploring creative visual spaces. He considers himself a work in progress – something that is reflected in his works.

Balcony Gallery: “Marked by the Way,” Photography by Katie Maher
As a photographer, Maher has a passion for enhancing people’s minds and engaging them in a visual adventure that both captivates and inspires. She wants her photos – whether they are of architecture, people or landscapes – to illustrate the role God plays in our everyday lives and highlight the beauty that still exists in this crazy world. In 2014 as a senior at Derby High School, Maher was a finalist and Honorable Mention award winner in the Fourth District Congressional Art Competition sponsored by the Office of Congressman Mike Pompeo

All exhibits will be on display Jan. 30 through Feb. 21. Admission is free to CityArts’ exhibition galleries that are open 9 a.m.-9 p.m., Monday-Friday and 9 a.m.-4 p.m., Saturday. Visitors are invited to discuss the exhibits on Facebook and Twitter using #WichitaCityArts. For more information about CityArts’ exhibits, go to or call (316) 350-3245.
