3/18/2015
Contact: Capt. Doug Nolte, Wichita Police Department |
The City of Wichita is accepting applications for an Animal Control Advisory Board, recently approved by the Wichita City Council.

The citizen advisory board will review existing animal control regulations; make recommendations for changes; seek constructive solutions to the concerns of community members regarding animal control regulations; and assist in providing education to the community.

Board membership will be comprised of seven at-large citizens. Preference will be given to applicants who are licensed veterinarians and/or a member of a certified local animal rescue group. A Wichita Police Department Animal Control Officer will be appointed as a non-voting secretary for the board.

For more details or to apply online to this or any of the City’s other citizen advisory boards, please visit http://wichita.gov/Government/Boards/Pages/default.aspx.

The Animal Control Division oversees animal control, rabies control, and leash law enforcement services. The division operates the only full-service, public-sector animal shelter in Sedgwick County and provides animal sheltering to all of Sedgwick County. Support services are also provided to area veterinarian clinics.
