Celebrating Wichita Airport Project

Contact: Communications Team |

A series of upcoming events are scheduled to celebrate the new Wichita Dwight D. Eisenhower National Airport terminal located at 2277 Eisenhower Airport Parkway.

The community events include a Dedication Event on Saturday; a Community Open House on Saturday, April 18; and a celebration marking the first day of operations in May (date to be announced).

Media are invited to attend Saturday’s Dedication Event. Complimentary tickets for the event have been funded from private sponsors. The complimentary tickets were made available to partners of the Affordable Airfares Program (officials from City of Wichita, Sedgwick County and State of Kansas).

“Without the Affordable Airfare program, the City would not have landed low-cost carriers,” Airport Director Victor White said. “The discount carriers have been critical to the City’s ability to maintain low fares at the airport, and support the airport terminal project.”

Spirit AeroSystems is the presenting sponsor for the new terminal project events. Additional sponsors include Crossland Construction Company, Inc.; Key Construction/Walbridge; HNTB; AECOM; Civil Technology, Inc.; Automatic Systems; Inc.; and Building Controls among others.

No local tax dollars have been used to fund the new terminal project or the events associated with its opening, with the exception of Transit services for the Community Open House on April 18.
