The pedestrian path located on the east bank of the Arkansas River at the 1st Street Bridge, west of Waco Avenue, is closed due to needed storm water main repairs, City of Wichita public works officials said on Tuesday morning.
"A short section of the path is closed with a detour around it," said Don Henry of public works. "The entire path is not closed to walkers and bikers."
The path will be closed until further notice to allow repair of this main. Pedestrians and bicyclists on this section of the path will be redirected away from the river to the sidewalk on Waco Avenue. Pedestrians and bicyclists are encouraged to take alternate routes to avoid traveling north or south on the path until further notice.
Westbound traffic on the 1st Street Bridge will be reduced to one lane related to the repair of this main. Pedestrian traffic on the north side of the bridge is closed.
