City of Wichita crews began treating the streets Saturday in anticipation of the snow and ice accumulation. Since that time, crews have completed their third pass through the priority routes. They have been working 12-hour shifts around the clock, and 55-60 plow trucks have been dispatched during each shift.
Crews will remain on 12-hour shifts and a full deployment of trucks will continue through Tuesday, as a 30% chance of snow exists for today, as well as Tuesday.
Prior to this winter event, the City had 11,000 tons of salt on hand. Crews have used 1,000 tons since Sunday morning.
