City of Wichita officials announced a contingency plan if inclement weather forces the cancelation of Saturday morning’s parade honoring Wichitan Nico Hernandez, a boxer and bronze medal winner at the Rio Olympic Games.
If severe storms happen Saturday morning, the parade will be canceled and parade goers will be directed to the North High School gymnasium, where a “closing ceremony” is scheduled.
The parade is scheduled for 10 a.m., starting at 21st and Broadway (Nomar International Market) and ending at 13th and Waco near North High. Hernandez is a 2014 graduate of North High.
