City Issues RFP for Topeka Street Firehouse

1/17/2018
Contact: Scot Rigby, Assistant City Manager |

The City of Wichita has issued a Request for Proposal (RFP) for the sale and redevelopment of the downtown Topeka Street Firehouse Catalyst Site, located at 500 S. Topeka Avenue near Intrust Bank Arena.

The City is marketing the approximately 16,000-square-foot firehouse for redevelopment in an area considered a catalyst site for Downtown, according to Project Downtown, Master Plan for Wichita. The RFP is designed to encourage incorporating the two-story building as an anchor for a multi-property development, which will expand on the success of Intrust Bank Arena and the Commerce Arts District. See details here.

“It is an exciting time for downtown Wichita with numerous development projects rising up in the City’s core,” said Scot Rigby, Assistant City Manager/ Development Services Director. ”This property – which sits within a burgeoning area bounded by tens of millions of dollars in private/public investment - provides a unique opportunity for development teams to propose mixed use projects that build upon those investments and excitement.”

RFPs are being mailed to local and regional developers and brokers.  Please direct questions to Scot Rigby, the Assistant City Manager/ Development Services Director, at srigby@wichita.gov or (316) 268-4524. The RFP is available online at Wichita.gov/RFQ.
