City of Wichita crews were mobilized at 10 p.m. Monday, in advance of winter precipitation. Crews have been applying a salt-sand mix to emergency routes. The salt-sand mix melts accumulating precipitation and provides traction on driving surfaces. Crews treat more than 1,500 lane miles of emergency routes during winter storm events.
Public Works & Utilities crews are working around the clock on 12-hour shifts, operating 60 trucks to treat roads through the duration of the storm.
