A public meeting for a redevelopment plan for the established central part of Wichita is scheduled from 5:30 - 7 p.m. on Tuesday at the Evergreen Wichita Public Library branch, 2601 N. Arkansas.
Media and residents are encouraged to attend the meeting which will engage the community on "Wichita: Places for People," a plan for improvements to the "Established Central Area" of Wichita, bounded approximately by Ridge Road on the west; Rock Road on the east; 29th Street on the north; and 31st Street on the south. The study area encompasses approximately 40% of the land mass of Wichita, is home to more than half the city's population, and contains nearly two-thirds of Wichita jobs. The plan will focus on ways to encourage population and employment growth, residential and commercial development and reinvestment in the mature neighborhoods of Wichita.
Residents are invited to share what is most important to them regarding redevelopment of the area as outlined in the Community Investments Plan, adopted in 2015. A consulting team will share its approach to the project and seek public opinion about priorities. Additional information, and updates are available at http://www.wichitaplacesforpeople.com.
