Golf Course Improvements Underway

5/18/2018
Contact: Troy Hendricks, Golf Division Manager |

Wichita Public Golf Courses are currently transitioning fairways at four of the five golf courses from cool season to warm season grass. The transition will lower pesticide and fertilizer applications and reduce water requirements, creating better, stronger and more consistent playing conditions for golfers.

"During the beginning stages the fairways may not meet the standard our golfers are accustomed to but the final result will be improved conditions by the end of summer," Troy Hendricks, the Golf Division Manager, said.

  • L.W. Clapp Golf Course, 4611 E. Harry;
  • MacDonald Golf Course, 840 N. Yale;
  • Arthur B. Sim Golf Course, 2020 W. Murdock; and
  • Tex Consolver Golf Course, 1931 S. Tyler.

Wichita Public golf courses serve more than 41,000 golfers each year who play an average of 155,000 rounds. Greens fees range from $25-$32 and the courses are open from sunrise to sunset every day of the week.
