City Implements New Board Management System

Contact: Janet Johnson |

The City of Wichita has implemented a new board and commission management system, OnBoard, in an effort to save time and money and make it easier for residents to view information and apply for boards and commissions.

The new system allows City staff to update contact information for board members, track membership, print board books, create mailing lists and run term expiration reports.

“This software offers more features at a lower cost than the previous software we were using,” said Janet Johnson, Division Manager of the Office of Community Services. “The City needed a more reliable system for online applications, managing vacancies and appointments and generating reports.”

The previous system also required staff to manually input more information. Johnson said now staff can generate reports and quickly upload historical data and documents which streamline the application process. The City spent $4,999 for an annual Onboard software subscription.  The previous system cost $18,900.

The Office of Community Services currently manages 34 boards and commissions. To view a list of the boards, board members, view vacancies and apply for positions, please visit
