The City of Wichita has implemented a new board and
commission management system, OnBoard, in an effort to save time and money and
make it easier for residents to view information and apply for boards and
commissions.
The new system allows City staff to update contact
information for board members, track membership, print board books, create
mailing lists and run term expiration reports.
“This software offers more features at a lower cost than
the previous software we were using,” said Janet Johnson, Division Manager of
the Office of Community Services. “The City needed a more reliable system for
online applications, managing vacancies and appointments and generating
reports.”
The previous system also required staff to manually input
more information. Johnson said now staff can generate reports and quickly
upload historical data and documents which streamline the application process.
The City spent $4,999 for an annual Onboard software subscription. The previous
system cost $18,900.
The Office of Community Services currently
manages 34 boards and commissions. To view a list of the boards, board members,
