The Wichita Public Library will celebrate Wichita-based authors during “Local Author Day” on Saturday, Aug. 24 at the Advanced Learning Library. This program is free and open to the public.
“‘Local Author Day’ started four years ago because the Library wanted a day to celebrate the wide array of literary talent in the Wichita area,” said Sara Dixon, Programming Services Manager. “It’s a day for authors to meet new fans and for readers to learn about new authors right here in our community.”
From 10:30-11:30 a.m., authors Starla Criser, Grant Overstake and Joe Stumpe will serve on a panel discussion about their experiences writing and publishing their books, and will discuss their roles in marketing their work.
After that, from 2-4 p.m., more than 60 authors will participate in the “Local Author Day Expo,” an opportunity for the public to meet a variety of Wichita’s authors. This is a unique opportunity for the public to interact with and learn about Wichita-based authors. Authors will have copies of their books available for purchase, including adult and children’s titles.
“Local Author Day” will take place in the Advanced Learning Library’s conference center. For more information, and to see two video interviews from local authors, visit
