Golf Will Close One Course a Week

Contact: Shana Appelhanz, City of Wichita Park and Recreation |

Wichita Public Golf Courses will rotate one course closure a week over the next four months. Currently, Auburn Hills is closed and will reopen tomorrow, November 9. This weekly rotation will continue through February 21, 2020. Maintenance staff will continue to work on the grounds during this process, ensuring staff are always onsite.

"We are monitoring the situation very closely, ensuring every step is taken to maximize our tee sheets and accommodate golfers all over the city," said Troy Hendricks, Golf Division Manager.

The golf division is an enterprise fund that operates solely on the dollars earned through green fees, cart rentals, food and beverage sales and more. During the cold season a business that is so weather dependent has to adapt and find ways to cut costs, and this closure rotation allows the golf division to reduce expenses, save money and keep the enterprise fund afloat until spring.

Week of November 9:

  • MacDonald Park will be closed.

  • Tex Consolver will be open.

  • Arthur B. Sim will be open.

  • Auburn Hills will be open.

Week of November 16:
