(Sedgwick County, Kan.) – Beginning today, June 15, the Metropolitan Area Building and Construction Department (MABCD) will expand the ability for homeowners to apply for and receive building permits online.
Those who own and occupy a home, and who wish to perform work for themselves that requires a permit and inspection, will be able to establish an account, pull their permit, and schedule the required inspections through the MABCD Portal in the same manner as contractors. Instructions for this process are available on the
MABCD webpage or by calling (316) 660-1840. Information on requirements for home owners seeking to perform electrical, plumbing and/or mechanical work is also available online.
Additionally today, MABCD will resume in-person customer transactions at the Ronald Reagan Building, 271 W. 3rd St. North, Ste. 101, by appointment only. Customers are encouraged to perform transactions online whenever possible, but for those cases where an in-person visit is needed, appointments can be made on the MABCD website or by calling (316) 660-1840. Customers visiting the building will be asked to wear a mask and maintain social distancing.
Advisory Board and other public meetings are scheduled to resume in July.
As a reminder, all Neighborhood Inspection actions can be submitted online or by phone. Customers requesting an in-person appointment with Neighborhood Inspection should call (316) 660-9220.
